Question by Imperio!: If the Abrahamic god was real, why would people have worshipped different deities for so long?
Why would it have taken early man so long to figure out which god was real?
Zoroastrianism and Hinduism are both older than the three Abrahamic religions. Although it is speculated that Christianity and Islam are derived from Zoroastrianism.
“[Zoroaster's] time and place of birth are unknown, but it is generally believed that he was born around 650 B.C. in Persia (present-day Iran)… An alternative theory dates him much earlier, somewhere in the period from 1700 to 1500 B.C., and places him in the plains of Central Asia, perhaps before the first groups of Aryans moved south from the plains into Iran and India” – http://www.greatcom.org/resources/handbook_of_todays_religions/03chap07/default.htm

“Archaeological digs have revealed that the Indus Valley culture lasted from about 3500 to 1800 BCE… Indus Valley excavations have uncovered many remains of fire altars, animal bones, potsherds, shell jewelry and other evidences of Vedic [Hindu] rituals.” – http://www.religioustolerance.org/hinduism2.htm

The religion of the African Yoruba people, known as Ifa, is also older than the Abrahamic religions, although it’s unclear the exact age of the religion itself, mainly due to lack of historical artefacts and writings. The Yoruba people mainly passed their religion on through word of mouth, to their children and other tribes, and in south-eastern Nigeria Christian evangelists have been destroying Ifa shrines and telling followers their gods are cursed.

bbgum – You clearly know very little about the history of your own religion. I would appreciate some research and reliable sources to back up what you’re saying. Either stick to your own opinion, which I will gladly listen to, or give me sources for what you’re claiming to be true.
