Ernst Udet – Wunder des Fliegens (Clip 3 of 9)
Excerpt from a 1935 Nazi film promoting the Luftwaffe. The famed WWI ace, Ernst Udet, has a prominent role inspiring Heinz (Jurgen Ohlsen), a teenager, to realize his dreams of becoming a pilot. In this third clip, Udet takes the kid to his apartment, which is stuffed with trophies and photos of his WWI career and African safaris. After a call to the kid’s mother to let her know where her son is, he gives the boy a tour. Included is some old footage of Manfred von Richthofen and footage from Udet’s visits to Greenland, Africa, and America. As far as I know, this was filmed inside Udet’s apartment, or it was replicated pretty exact. (Although I don’t know if he actually had a big-ass bust of Fat Hermann in his apartment! But their friendship, such as it was, hadn’t gone real sour by this time, so maybe…) No subtitles. Sorry!
